L.Ac It is very important to make the distinction between
someone who has an L.Ac and those who do not (these people would only have a
Master’s degree or other academic credentials). Similar to the Bar Exam for law school
graduates, only physicians with L.Ac are state-licensed acupuncturists. Dr. Lan, on the other hand, received her L.Ac in the same year she was awarded her Master’s degree (M.S.TCM) AND her Ph.D in another healing art, a rare feat in her field. Dipl. Diplomate in Oriental Medicine is the highest-level
certification granted by the National Certification Commission in Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). As the
name of the commission suggests, it is a recognition at the national level,
compared to L.Ac; the latter’s requirements vary across states. Dipl.

4-year, 3000-hour degree program offered by the DAOM (in progress) Clinical Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree is the

and clinical status as a Buddhist Pastoral Counselor. Dr. Lan’s classes, research, and writing

with Chinese Medicine. M.A.H. The title of Master Ayurvedic
